Alcatel Submarine Networks Norway is a technology company that develops and manufactures fiber optic sensor systems. The company, owned by the French company Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), is based at Rosten in Trondheim and has more than 70 employees.
ASN develops and manufactures advanced fiber optic sensor systems with hydrophones, accelerometers and with distributed measurement of dynamic strain in optical fiber cables. These sensor systems are used for seismic, detection of geotechnical events (landslides/earthquakes) and for monitoring critical infrastructure. Our business is growing, and we are now looking for skilled employees to further develop our fiber optic sensor technology.
We are now looking for a Senior Product Developer / Senior Mechanical Engineer with high technical expertise in mechanical design for our development department in Trondheim. The development department has 24 employees with high expertise in mechanical design, fiber optics, signal processing, electronics design and software development. Mechanical design is a key element to our products, and we now seek a technical expert responsible for mechanical design who can contribute to further development within this exciting and challenging technology area.
In this position,
you will participate in the development of new fiber optic sensor elements as well as further development of our existing product portfolio. You will have the opportunity to work in the entire development process from concept to product, initiation of production as well as preparation of tools and procedures for installation at sea. This position also offers the opportunity to participate with technical expertise within the large EPCI projects we deliver.
Qualifications
- Master of Science with a background in mechanics, mechanical engineering, product development or equivalent disciplines
- Experience with mechanical design, advanced use of tools for 3D modeling and preparation of drawings for mechanical parts
- Competence in calculations and experience with the use of relevant simulation tools
- Experience with practical work and prototyping
- Experience with subsea standards is advantageous
- The candidate must be a citizen of an EU or NATO country and possess a valid passport

You are innovative and motivated to expand beyond your own profession and able to develop new concepts and demonstrate these as prototypes in close collaboration with skilled colleagues and the company's internal machine shop. Good communication skills in English, both oral and written, is essential.
